The Importance of Correctly Maintained Doors – It’s Not Just an Open and Shut Case!

The integrity of a door is of paramount importance to the fabric of a building and the safety of its users, but how to keep it at its optimum performance for its entire life cycle is a question often asked.Intastop, leaders in door, wall and people protection has been providing modern methods of protection for over 25 years.

A fire door in particular forms part of a building’s passive fire protection system and they are designed and developed to save lives and protect property. It is therefore hugely important that the correct doors are specified and that they are maintained appropriately – if not it can have significant negative impact comprising safety, putting building users at risk and exposing employers, landlords and building owners to damaging criticism and legal action when things go wrong.

Intastop has a range of products that meet high standards of fire protection and that are suitable for inclusion in doorsets or to be used independently. These products include door edge guards, hinges, privacy vision panels and Intastop can also provide a post forming service for door and frame protection.

To ensure the longevity of a door but to also help protect building users, whether patients or students, Intastop has a range of door and wall protection products. One of which is Intastop’s Anti-bacterial Impact Protection Sheet, which is designed to be quick and easy to install and offers a plethora of benefits not to mention being maintenance free! Cut to any size or shape and fitted to entire doors, or as kick and push plates or for cladding walls, the sheet has been enhanced so that the Hygienilacâ proactive ingredient, which prevents growth of up to 99% of harmful microbes or bacteria, is impregnated into the sheet at the time of manufacture which permeates each layer to ensure that the product retains its integrity should it become scratched or damaged, meaning that doors and walls will continue to help protect building users long after installation.

The sheet is ‘O’ Fire Rated; tested to BS476 Parts 6 & 7 and meets EC Hygiene requirements, food safety regulations and supports guidelines in BS8300:2001.In addition, it is non-porous, chemical resistant and easy to clean which helps to maintain a safe and hygienic environment. It is also available in a range of bold and vibrant colours and can help to make healthcare and educational establishments more appealing. Such bold colours can help in the care of dementia patients or in defining specific areas within schools and are an ideal solution to create a feature wall too. Should a more subtle look be required then a range of pastel colours is also available.

Furthermore, high quality pictures, logos, words or murals can be incorporated into the sheet allowing corporate branding, inspirational words or other images to give a bespoke look. This method of printing can visually enhance the presentation of an area and allows attractive designs to be utilised in an interior scheme without compromising cleanliness and hygiene.
