​​Whitesales Es-Shaft smoke vent door for safer means of escape

With 53% of all fire-related fatalities resulting from inhalation of toxic vapours, Whitesales smoke control systems are high performance devices that increase the chance of survival in the event of fire. They extend the usability of escape and access pathways as well as visibility within them, delaying or preventing flashover to slow down development and spread of flame.

The Es-Shaft™ Smoke Vent Door is a discrete vent designed for residential and commercial developments where mechanical or natural smoke shafts are used to ensure clear escape routes in lobbies and corridors. It has a 60-minute fire rating and can be installed in a variety of wall types to provide a flush and unobtrusive finish. By opening to 90⁰ in less than 60 seconds, it gives 0.6m² or 1.0m² of free vent area. Manufactured from steel, has a fully welded full length and concealed piano hinge and is supplied paint-ready or powder-coated. The fully welded rigid steel frame construction is beaded for flush mounting in plasterboard walls. Certified to BS EN12101-2 and fire tested to EN1634-1, the door is also airtight to Part L EN12207:2000 and BS EN2176 Part 31. Powered by 24V DC actuators with a drive open, drive close operation, the Es-Shaft has been tested to 11,000 opening cycles and can therefore also be used for comfort cooling. It has a 3-point locking access panel which opens towards the user and is also supplied with a square drive key, this enables access to the actuator for servicing and repairs. It has a pre-wired back box and removable face plate ensuring a quick and simple installation.
