Senior delivers PURe® luxury at Grantley Hall

High-performance aluminium fenestration solutions from Senior Architectural Systems have helped breathe new life into the recently refurbished Grantley Hall in North Yorkshire.

The stunning Grade II listed building has been sympathetically repaired, renovated and extended to provide luxury hotel accommodation and a new build spa and wellness retreat.The prestigious contract, which is one of the largest engineering projects to be completed in the North of England, saw Senior’s aluminium curtain walling, windows and doors fabricated and installed by supply chain partner Aire Valley Architectural Aluminium Ltd for main contractor R N Wooler and Bowman Riley architects.

A key challenge of the project was to minimise the impact of the new extension on the existing listed building which dates back to the 17^th century.With all the original windows in the hall restored to their former glory, it was vital that the fenestration package in the new spa building was appropriate in terms of both aesthetics and performance.The slim sightlines offered by Senior’s SF52 aluminium curtain wall provided the ideal solution and were perfectly complemented by Senior’s high-performance SPW501 commercial doors and patented low U-value PURe® aluminium windows.

Following the ambitious construction programme, both Grantley Hall and the new spa building have achieved carbon neutral status.Key to this was the installation of a ground source heat recovery system, with the exceptional thermal performance of Senior’s aluminium fenestration products also helping to contribute to the overall energy-efficiency of the scheme.
