First established in 1931, The Building Centre is an independent forum representing all sectors and professional disciplines within the construction industry. The Centre also provides office facilities for a variety of leading organisations in the built environment.
Selectaglaze was approached to complete a window upgrade to the Construction Industry Council (CIC) offices on the second floor of the building. CIC’s office overlooks the busy Store Street thoroughfare and a marked improvement in the thermal efficiency and outside noise reduction was required. Needing an effective, cost efficient solution to help provide a more amenable working environment, The Building Centre turned to Selectaglaze secondary glazing.
Whilst improved thermal performance was the main aim, The Building Centre also felt that they would get a considerable benefit from noise reduction. This was very appealing to them as the Centre is becoming more and more ‘green’.
“With environmental considerations, we are striving to reduce the overall size of our environmental impact. We want to lead by example and practice what we promote through our exhibitions and manufacturer showcases, so putting in secondary glazing in the office areas provides for a quieter and more comfortable work space and we make our building more thermally efficient. We have worked with Selectaglaze over a number of years now and have seen the benefits and solutions their products offer us.” says John Bonning, Commercial Director.
Selectaglaze installed a total of 18 units in the office, treating openings up to 2600cm x 5900cm. Staff at The Building Centre were not distracted by the works, as units were installed out of hours.
Founded in 1966 and Royal Warrant Holder since 2004, Selectaglaze is the leading designer, manufacturer and installer of secondary glazing.
