SELECT THE RIGHT ROOFLIGHT

Listed buildings or properties that sit in a conservation area are subject to planning restrictions when it comes to renovation or extending. Careful consideration needs to be taken to choose the right materials and products to complement the design and character of the building to avoid having plans rejected by the planning authorities.

That is exactly what the Rooflight Company set out to achieve when it created the original Conservation Rooflight® to replicate the Victorian cast iron model. Combining design and innovation, to ensure it would meet all current building regulations including Conservation, English Heritage and the National Trust and benefit from the latest thermal efficiency.

The original Conservation Rooflight® is made from 3mm mild steel with a protective polyester powder coating to BS EN ISO 12944, extremely robust with a long life span. Just like in the Victorian era, built to last.

It features slim clean lines and a low-profile to match the roofline, enhancing a building’s aesthetics with linking bars for every size. Top hinged opening retains the authentic appearance, as does the glazing clips on the exterior. The unit achieves whole unit u-value (Uw) of 1.5 W/m2 K in accordance with EN ISO 10077-2:2012.

The Conservation Plateau is the only flat rooflight designed specifically for heritage buildings with an authentic skirt design . The unit achieves whole unit u-value (Uw) of 1.4 W/m2 K in accordance with EN ISO 10077-2:2012.

All of their heritage roof windows have been fitted with a unique Thermoliner® feature which allows condensation to be controlled and limits the risk of mould. The standard frame is finished in a textured semi-gloss paint finish in black RAL 9005 to keep that authentic look.

There is a wide range of standard sizes in stock to fit all rafter widths, with a made to measure service to avoid cutting existing rafters to allow you to preserve the integrity of any historical building.

The Studio Range offers the chance to create a run of Conservation Rooflights® to maximise light ingress and ventilation into an older building to bring it into the 21st century without losing any of the original features. An in-house bespoke design team is available for further advice.
