Mila’s recently launched Carbon Trust certified GRIP™ (Green Reliable Intelligent Polymer) espag window handle is now available in an innovative CleanTouch anti-microbial version specifically for use in schools, healthcare environments, offices and public buildings.
It is the only window handle on the market protected with hygienic, anti-microbial silver ion technology from BioCote. As the leaders in this sector, BioCote already supplies familiar brands such as Dyson, Akzo Nobel, Formica and Rehau, and is the only anti-microbial supplier which requires partners to have their products validated before launch and then re-tested on a regular basis during production.
Mila’s CleanTouch innovation has been made possible because the GRIP™ espag handle is manufactured from ABS rather than more traditional zinc or aluminium, which means that Biocote’s anti-microbial additive can permeate the ABS material and provide continuous lifetime protection against the spread of surface borne microbes – even the H1N1 influenza virus.
The performance of the handle has already been demonstrated via an extended environmental study carried out in a Hertfordshire primary school. Here, samples were taken regularly from two comparable classrooms – one equipped with standard equipment and furnishings and one with equivalent BioCote treated alternatives, and a staggering 95.68% reduction in bacterial count was recorded.
The GRIP™ CleanTouch looks identical to Mila’s standard new GRIP™ handle but has the Biocote logo and traceable batch number under the lever for easy identification. It has exactly the same performance benefits as well, including a warm touch grip, high gloss finish, corrosion and chemical resistance, and high strength which even outperforms zinc
Mila is making bold claims about its new GRIP™ range which it claims will redefine the window hardware market. It has a carbon footprint which is 60% lower than Mila’s standard zinc espag handle and is the first mainstream window hardware product in the UK to be certified by The Carbon Trust. It is also available in 210 RAL colours so can be used as part of any commercial design scheme with frames in PVC-U, aluminium or timber.
