Mermet fabric coverings for Walls and Ceilings

Fire resistant to BS 476 Pt 6 Class 0, making them suitable for use in public areas, attractive and easy to maintain, Mermet fabrics are being widely used as coverings for both walls and ceilings across Europe.

Dimensionally stable, due to glass fibre cored yarn, this range of woven fabrics, originally developed as window shading materials, for use both internally and externally, were found to have many properties of benefit in the wider construction market. Easy to cut and fabricate from, taking sewing, welding and mechanical fixing well.

An inherent nature to lie or hang flat, without elongation or stretching over time, durable, waterproof, colourfast and safe in use (REACH & Greenguard compliant), the fabrics applications get wider and wider.

Available in a wide range of standard colours, the fabrics also take digital print exceptionally well, making them useful for signage, both walls and ceilings having benefited from such treatments.

Acoustic properties open up many further applications. The development and promotion of the acoustically absorbent fabric Acoustis 50 (Aw 0.45 – 0.75 depending on method and position of deployment) led to many enquiries where it was found that the true requirement was for an acoustically transparent fabric, one that permitted other acoustically absorbent materials such as felts and foams, placed behind it, to work. Both the Screen Vision Sv10% and the Satine 5500 fabrics were found to be suitable for such use, to the extent that both have been used to ‘hide’ sound system speakers without degradation of the sound quality.

Attractive, acoustically absorbent or transparent, fire resistant, easy and safe to use, long lasting, Mermet’s woven glass fibre based fabrics should be considered for many more ceiling and wall applications.
