The University of Sussex turned to Langley, and it’s high-performance SBS built-up roofing system for the refurbishment of the campus Art Blocks & Asa Briggs Building. The Grade II listed buildings designed by Sir Basil Spence in the 1960’s are of architectural and historical importance and Langley worked sympathetically with the University of Sussex and their chosen consultant BLB Chartered Surveyors, to undertake a comprehensive survey of the University estates existing roofs.
Langley first established the current state of the buildings and provided detailed and bespoke reports, including accompanying budgets, to identify areas requiring attention and suggest suitable solutions. The specified solution involved both RBM felt for the larger roof areas and liquid waterproofing for around plant that needed to remain in place.
Heartfelt Roofing Ltd, a Langley Approved Contractor worked quickly to deliver the specified flat roofing solution. They delivered a high-quality finish and considerate level of service throughout the project with minimum disruption to the learning environment.
The completed project gives the University of Sussex a 25-year guarantee, and the outstanding results underline the superiority of Langley products as well as the contractor’s expertise in dealing with complex detailing.
