High quality, environmentally friendly paint finishes

Earthborn's first product was Claypaint, which maximises the natural properties of clay to create a high performance, highly breathable emulsion that covers exceptionally well and gives a distinctive, ultra matt finish.

Made from around 35% natural clay with no added VOCs and no smell, it’s thick, creamy, pleasant to use, oil and acrylic free. Perfect for older properties and lime plaster because it is so highly breathable, it is also favoured by those who suffer with allergies, as it is free from harmful emissions and safe for children’s bedrooms and nurseries.

But specifying breathable, eco paints needn’t limit the colour palette.

Earthborn’s Claypaint is available in 72 shades from soft neutrals to bold, rich tones - and they’ve recently launched seven new shades that meet the current trend for overstated colour.

Earthborn's paints have never and will never contain any added VOCs, and they are proud to be the first UK licence holder for the EU Ecolabel for paints and varnishes.

Architects specify sustainability

When it came to building a new home for themselves, two partners in the practice Downs Merrifield Architects were determined to stamp sustainability throughout its specification.

Carolyn Merrifield said: “We chose Ecopro emulsion because of its exceptional eco credentials, low odour and hard wearing finish. Every wall and ceiling that doesn’t have ceramic tiles or hardwood cladding has been painted with Earthborn Ecopro."

Ecopro Matt Emulsion is an easy to use, environmentally sound alternative to conventional emulsions. While its unique formulation is totally oil, acrylic and VOC free, it offers high performance and excellent covering properties.

Newly decorated rooms can be brought back into use quickly because it does not give off any harmful emissions or odours: a point that benefited Nic Downs and Carolyn who planned additional paintwork using Ecopro Matt Emulsion.

Nic explains: “After living with white paint throughout the house for several months, we were ready to start choosing colours to enhance certain walls. It was great to move straight back into a room once it was painted, without worrying about any smells or emissions.”
