Haddonstone, the UK’s leading manufacturer of fine architectural stonework and landscape ornaments, was honoured to be chosen to supply stonework to the prestigious Poundbury project - an urban extension of Dorchester advocated by The Prince of Wales.
Working closely with architect Ben Pentreath, the main contractor C G Fry & Son Ltd and the fixing contractor Henley Stone, Haddonstone manufactured a range of standard and bespoke architectural stonework designs to create classical facades for the main building and Haddonstone’s designs have also been used extensively throughout the development.
Haddonstone is a unique form of cast limestone with a surface texture similar to Portland stone. The material matures and weathers like natural stone yet, piece for piece, normally costs significantly less than quarried stone. Haddonstone’s standard designs range from porticos, window surrounds and balustrades to gate piers, landscape ornaments and fireplaces.
