Complemented by its new product line of seamless surface finishes, wedi’s floor-to-ceiling system solution not only offers protection against mould and fungi at substrate and surface level but is equally suited for refurbishment and new build projects.
Directly tileable wedi elements, manufactured with 100% green energy and at least 25% recycled XPS core material, are 100% waterproof to the core, thermally insulating, stable and load-bearing. The new range of seamless wedi Top design surfaces, manufactured 100% from recycled materials, provide a warm to touch, hygienic, non-slip surface finish. Utilizing recycled materials and renewable energy, they reduce the environmental footprint of construction and at the same time, create the perfect interplay of functionality and style.
Behind every product there is mindfulness & craftsmanship. Thanks to their modular design, perfectly coordinated wedi components allow for unlimited freedom in design whilst providing all-round protection against mould & fungi. Due to its close collaboration with industry professionals since 1983, having invented countless bathroom solutions, wedi have become the pioneer of the XPS industry. Practical and secure wedi XPS product solutions don’t only offer peace of mind for the installer but reduce labour and dust, hence speed up the project completion and improve health & safety conditions on site.
Especially as net-zero and compliance with sustainable building emerges in the construction industry, XPS solutions with verifiable environmental footprint become all the more relevant. Directly tileable wedi elements not only come with their own Environmental Product Declaration (EPD certificates) but are also renowned for their excellent thermal (0.036 W/mK) and loadbearing (133kg/m2) capabilities setting them apart from other foam tilebackers on the current market.
wedi building boards are increasingly used beneath underfloor heating systems: they promote balanced heat distribution across the entire space by preventing heat escape through the ground and hence improve underfloor heating systems’ response time by up to a staggering 70%! One of the most recent wedi innovations however is focused not only on contributing to the energy efficiency of the building, but also on aiding secure installation of heating-pipes, reducing the use of screed whilst cutting back on processing times and extending the longevity of the installation.
The wedi PreLine building board is in fact a standard wedi building board with pre-routed channels for easy placement of hot-water pipes up to and including 16mm in diameter and is available in 30/40/50/60mm thickness to suit. Possessing all the advantages of the wedi building board, the PreLine board is of course, 100% waterproof to the core and load-bearing, making it ideal to use on vertical installations where hot-water pipes are being integrated into a partition wall for example.
Installation is as straightforward as it is ingenious: the pipes are simply laid in the integrated recesses and backfilled using flexible cement-based tile adhesive. After full-surface reinforcement, it can be tiled directly onto. The XPS core of the product serves as thermal insulation, as well as a waterproofing layer when used in combination with wedi system accessories.
