ECOPHON LAUNCHES NEW MONTHLY ACOUSTICS PODCAST SERIES

Acoustic specialist Saint-Gobain Ecophon has launched a monthly podcast series for architects, contractors or, in fact, anyone looking to understand more about acoustics and how to achieve optimum acoustic specification for indoor environments. The podcasts are available to download for free from the Ecophon website, iTunes and Stitcher.

Suitably entitled ‘A Sound Effect on People’, the initial series of 30-minute podcasts is presented by former ITN News presenter Salma Cranefield. In Episode One Salma is joined by a panel of three Ecophon concept developers. Here, they explore the impact of acoustics on people and how it facilitates the successful delivery of education in schools and universities, enhances productivity and wellbeing in offices and, aids recovery, healing and rest in healthcare institutions.

In the later podcast episodes, industry experts join the panel to explore these issues more deeply. Episode Two features the Institute of Acoustics Council's Honorary Secretary Russell Richardson, of consultants RBA Acoustics, who is the Institute of Acoustics Council's Honorary Secretary. This episode will focus on education and how acoustics can help children and young people concentrate and learn, whilst protecting the health of teachers and lecturers.

In Episode Three, which also features psychologist Dr Nigel Oseland from Workplace Unlimited, the panel will look at why good acoustics matters at work; how it helps us concentrate, reduces stress and improves wellbeing, all of which in turn has a positive impact on the bottom line.

Commenting on the launch of the new podcast series, Will Jones, Marketing Manager at Ecophon said: “We are often involved in research projects about sound, conduct our own tests, have constant dialogue with acousticians and people that are affected by sound in some way. We know how to create comfortable room acoustics. The aim with this series of podcasts is to share our, and of course other expert’s, knowledge and encourage listeners to really get themselves up to speed with what’s happening in the world of acoustics. We chose the podcast route as opposed to a movie medium because let’s face it listeners won’t be distracted by imagery but will be ‘really’ listening!”

Saint-Gobain Ecophon develops, manufactures and markets acoustic products and systems that contribute to a good working environment by enhancing peoples’ wellbeing and performance.
