The UK¹s favourite composite door supplier, Door-Stop, has released a fire door information pack following the launch of its third party certified fire doors. The pack includes a series of brochures to educate installers, housing associations and local authorities on the importance of providing legal, correctly certified and suitably installed fire doors to prevent any risk of criminal prosecution.
Door-Stop has created the pack to provide accurate and clear information that is specified by both the Housing Act 2004 and Regulatory Reform, Fire Safety Order (FSO) 2005. In addition to the brochures, the pack also consists of an installation guide, fact sheets and a USB containing a fire door video, produced by Door-Stop, promoting the importance of correctly specified fire doors.
Patrick Dean, Head of Sales and Marketing at Door-Stop said: ³We are very pleased with the pack that we have put together; it will provide our customers with all of the legal advice on fire door requirements that many building owners and installers are, in fact, unaware of. Our aim is to highlight the risks that they may be taking when not correctly choosing a third party certified door. In fact, if a fire door does not meet the required regulations and codes then the responsible person could be faced with a hefty fine or be sentenced to time in prison.²
Fire safety is an extremely important issue that is relevant to all buildings, whether they are a household, an apartment or a high-rise office block. To ensure the safety of individuals, it is essential to have a fire door that is fully certified. The Door-Stop fire door range has been fire and smoke tested for up to 30 minutes and is also the leading composite fire door on the market that is CERTIFIRE approved.
As an installer, housing association or local authority, it is your responsibility to provide duty of care to the people occupying a property and to protect them from one of the 174 building fires that occur every day in the U.K.
