Facilities and estate managers can improve accessibility thanks to a new high efficiency door closer range from HOPPE (UK).
It is important that both accessibility and fire regulations are taken into consideration when specifying and choosing any door or window hardware, and door closers in particular have a key role to play in these areas.
The new Cam-Action closer is designed with a low opening force, also referred to as high efficiency. This allows the door to close with the right power to meet fire regulations but also to open with as low a force as possible enabling everyone to move around the building with ease.
The door closer range meets the accessibility recommendations of BS8300 and Approved Document M. The range has also been tested to BS EN 1634 Part 1, is suitable for use on 30, 60 and 120 minutes timber fire doors and meets the fire safety requirements of Approved Document B.
The Cam-Action range features a surface mounted slide track that puts the closer at less risk of vandalism or accidental breakage, a common problem with projecting armsets. Projecting armsets, also known as scissor arms, can be pulled on, causing the arm to disengage and stopping the door closing properly into the frame.
Andy Matthews, head of sales for HOPPE (UK) said: “Door closers have a vital role in keeping buildings secure and safe, especially when it comes to a fire, but their importance is often overlooked. The new Cam-Action series caters for the majority of power sizes and is a popular choice for many public buildings due to the surface mounted slide track that provides a sleek, discreet finish.”
