When it comes to finding a lift to carry people in tight-squeeze locations, Stannah’s NEW Piccolo low speed passenger lift proved the ideal solution for the The Pines, a brand new supported living service for adults with physical and learning disabilities in Tunbridge Wells.
“The Piccolo specification was a perfect match for the demands of this project. Its simplicity of construction means it does not require a pit or much of an overrun, making it a very cost-effective solution, and the single-press controls are ideal for the user group. Add to this Stannah’s reputation and aftercare service, and the Piccolo was the ideal fit.”
This new, innovative product from Stannah can hold up to four people, or 400kg. The hydraulic Piccolo looks and functions just like a passenger lift, with sliding doors, a fully automatic cabin and landing controls, but it is, in fact, a Machinery Directive platform lift due to its smooth, 0.15 m/s speed.
Finished in harmonising blue and grey vinyl skin plate, the lift features a half-height rear mirror, handrail, grid ceiling and non-slip stud floor. Safety and user reassurance is paramount both for Stannah and for The Pines, so an emergency telephone connection on the platform and klaxon back-up provide this.
The Pines benefits from the Piccolo’s low power consumption and high performance, making it cost efficient to run – another plus point for the property owner, MCHH, and support provider, Avenues, with the added advantage of helping them to meet the requirements of the Equality Act 2010.
As with all Stannah lift products, the Piccolo lift is covered by Stannah’s comprehensive lift service plan, which includes two service visits, with continued lift maintenance by the Orpington branch of Stannah Lift Services, part of a nationwide network providing comprehensive lift servicing and support.
