Kaba provide unique entrance system at World Museum, Liverpool
Leading door manufacturer and supplier Kaba Door Systems, has provided a unique automatic sliding door solution at World Museum, Liverpool.
The two Kaba SLX automatic sliding doors have been fitted to two existing entrances that lead through to the museum floor. Although separate doorways, the architect specified that the new doors should slide open simultaneously, meeting together over the separating area of wall. However, this area of wall was not wide enough to accommodate the opening doors. A pocket screen was built over the existing wall and a Kaba telescopic operating system was modified to enable the opening doors to overlap slightly. Kaba built the pocket screen to look exactly like the original wall beneath so when activated, the doors could open, sliding over each other out of sight leaving the original appearance of the doorways unchanged.
The Kaba SLX sliding door is a technologically advanced system. Controlled by an intelligent Communications Bus which continually monitors the safety systems, the SLX is an extremely safe, reliable and efficient system.
Founded in 1853, the World Museum, Liverpool houses collections from across the globe. The museum expansion work prior to 2005 has doubled the display space and created a beautiful atrium enabling visitors to experience fascinating galleries and the latest in interactive and technological facilities that bring the collection to life for a whole new generation.
